Beer review: Raspberry Razzle

Isley Brewing, Scotts Addition in Richmond, VA

Raspberry Razzle Gose, 5.4% ABV

Isley Brewing is my second favorite craft brewery in the Richmond area; their flavors are consistently interesting and delicious without being overbearingly sweet or “syrupy” and Raspeberry Razzle gose is no different. It is the perfect marriage of modest sweetness and tartness with an authentic raspberry flavor; crisp and effervescent mouthfeel and light-bodied. Delicious!

Brew review: Lavender/Blueberry Berliner Weisse

This interesting Berliner comes from Oozlefinch Brewing in Fort Monroe, VA. It combines a tart sweetness from blueberries with a floral note from lavender, making for a very unique flavor profile that I honestly haven’t experienced with any other beers to this point. The lavender is not so forward that you think of hand soap, so no worries there. The mouthfeel is crisp and effervescent, with medium body and quite smooth. I enjoyed this one immensely!
